DOT Testing Services

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), along with the Department of Transportation (DOT), requires that persons subject to the commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements and their employers follow alcohol and drug testing rules.

The DOT physical certifies that the driver has no physical or mental condition that will affect his or her ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle. The exam incorporates the required medical assessment, physical exam and includes the medical card.

Our examiners are knowledgeable in Federal DOT requirements regarding driver certification.

We strictly abide by DOT guidelines.

DOT Drug Testing
DOT drug tests require laboratory testing for the Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates – Opium and Codeine derivatives, Amphetamines and Methamphetamines, and Phencyclidine – PCP.  Our certified lab specializes in both DOT and non-DOT drug testing services.

DOT Alcohol Testing
Our trained and certified staff of certified Screening Test Technicians (STTs) and Breath Alcohol Technicians (BATs) provide alcohol testing for pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post accident, return to duty, follow-ups and all of your other DOT alcohol testing needs.

Breathalyzers
Per the Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR Part 40 (Drug and Alcohol Regulations), an evidential breath testing device (EBT) must be approved by the NHTSA for the use of DOT alcohol testing. The EBT alcohol testing machine must be operated by a certified breath alcohol technician (BAT).

Post Accident
We want you to be assured that your DOT-approved drug and alcohol tests are timely and correct when someone you employ has experienced an accident.  The specific guidelines for DOT post-accident testing include requirements for those needing to undergo alcohol testing, those needing to undergo substance abuse testing, and the timing in which the testing must occur.  Fast and Accurate Test Labs offers emergency and post-accident (post-incident) testing programs that are completely DOT compliant; even for non-DOT regulated clients.

Mobile DOT Testing
In the case that DOT substance abuse and alcohol testing needs to be performed on-site, FACTLabs is equipped to come to you and administer testing that remains within DOT regulations.  Our company can dispatch a mobile testing unit for DOT-compliance drug and alcohol testing on short notice. Having our testing service come to you, when you are located far from the nearest medical facility offering drug screening, is a real convenience. Our professional, DOT-qualified collectors and technicians can administer drug testing at your location.

DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing is required for:

Post Accident
Drug and alcohol testing performed after accidents with drivers whose performance may have contributed or caused the accident (as determined by a citation for a moving traffic violation) and for all fatal accidents even if the driver is not cited for a moving traffic violation.

Reasonable Suspicion
Drug and alcohol testing conducted when a trained supervisor or company official observes behavior or appearance that is characteristic of alcohol misuse.

Random Testing
Drug and alcohol testing performed on a random, unannounced basis just before, during, or just after performance of safety-sensitive functions.

Return-To-Duty and Follow-Up Testing
Drug and alcohol tests conducted when an individual who has violated the prohibited drug and alcohol conduct standards returns to performing safety-sensitive duties. Follow-up tests are unannounced. At least 6 tests must be conducted in the first 12 months after a driver returns to duty. Follow-up testing may be extended for up to 60 months following return to duty.
